What's On: Tumbling for Trivia

downfall225.jpgDownfall, ABC's new entry in the legacy of game shows with a "falling" conceit, debuts tonight. Could you answer general knowledge questions on a skyscraper that threatened to collapse beneath you? What if Chris Jericho was reading the questions with the ferocity of a middle-schooler who eats cane sugar for breakfast? What if the show turned into an upsetting WCW retread at a moment's notice? With Jericho, that's always a possibility. You can bow out now.

Downfall [ABC, 9 PM]

Contestants stand atop a 10-story building and answer questions before a conveyer belt of prizes can deposit its goods off the edge. Sounds like a high-octane version of The Price is Right's Mountain Climber game. If Chris Jericho starts yodeling at any time, we must arrange a protest.

America's Got Talent [NBC, 8 PM]

Open auditions continue. God, I hope we witness more glow-in-the-dark frat mimes soon. The mayor just called, and we're low on those.

Cupcake Wars [Food, 9 PM]

The contestants compete in an aphrodisiac-inspired challenge. Expect icing renderings of candlelit bedrooms, Barry White and a cozy ski lodge. And then a cupcake that tastes like a cupcake.

Michael Jackson: This is It [Starz, 9 PM]

The King of Pop rehearses for his last tour, the one he never began due to his untimely death. Look for cameos from celebrity friends including Orianthi, the pop singer who was set up to be his tour guitarist. The one-year anniversary of MJ's death is this Friday, so prepare for the somber occasion by boning up now on the life of Bubbles's keeper.
