Never Let Me Go Trailer: Save Us From the Summer Doldrums, Carey Mulligan!
Christ, can fall get here fast enough? This has been one of the most uninspiring summer movie seasons ever, and it only makes the quality releases coming in a few months all the more essential. Yesterday, Sofia Coppola threw us a life preserver by way of her trailer for Somewhere, and now it's Never Let Me Go's turn.
Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley, and Andrew Garfield all star in...wait, what's that? Your ticket is already bought? I mean, mine too, but let me tell you a little bit more about the film, just for tradition's sake. It's based on the acclaimed Kazuo Ishiguro novel about three young adults who are being groomed for...something...at a very eerie boarding school, and it's directed by Mark Romanek. I thought his One Hour Photo was absurd, but I want to believe in this one, Mark. I want to believe!
VERDICT: Sold.

I like that Alex Garland adapted it, too. Sunshine is underrated.
The marketing on this one's gonna be tricky, though.
I love how they put Andrew Garfield's name on the bill as if he's a big enough name to persuade Americans to run to the theater.
The script was tedious, the trailer gives everything away and Garfield's yelp into the night made me laugh BUT I love me some Mulligan and I'm a former Bomber like Romanek. Will get back to you.
