The First Image from Mad Men's Fourth Season Arrives

madmen_s4_585.jpgIt isn't officially online yet -- cheeky Entertainment Weekly actually forcing people to buy the magazine to get their content -- but in the latest issue of EW, there's a surprise for fans of Mad Men: The first new image of season four. And -- SPOILER -- it looks exactly like any other image from Mad Men! Though considering the show can only do so much with wardrobe -- Don Draper won't be caught wearing a suede vest until season seven at the earliest -- what did you expect? After the jump, the photo and a few more non-reveals from Matthew Weiner about where the new season is headed.

OMG, can you believe Don is wearing a striped tie? Scandalous! As for the show itself, the article quotes Matthew Weiner as saying: "The theme of the season is 'Who am I?' It's about stripping away the things that these people think define them. Once they're taken away, they just may have to look at who they really are." So there you have it! No word yet on whether or not Weiner will find room in the story for a subplot involving Betty Draper's driving prowess.

Perhaps there's more to this pic than meets the casual eye: For instance, Draper looks unpleasantly surprised, giving a, "Really? Are you kidding?" look and Sterling looks downright pissed while Pete has a shit-eating grin on his face. Did Pete just get promoted above them? Ooooh! Tune in to find out!

Hey, remember in season 1 when Betty jumps the curb and drives onto someone's lawn?
So I guess this means they have an actual office in season 4, and they won't be working out of the hotel room for long.

No, that looks like a restaurant they're in.

  • DarkKnightShyamalan says:

Oh, on second thought it does look more like a boardroom. But it could be somebody else's.

Um . . . . unless they started puttung table cloths on board room tables in o1963 for some strange reason - I think it's a safe bet that they are in a restaurant.

The back of Roger's chair screams 'restaurant'. Or at least 'catering hall'. But the paneling... Hotel ballroom?
