Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds to Make Non-Sequel to The Proposal
Remember reading that Vulture piece earlier in the year about how Disney didn't want to make a sequel to The Proposal -- despite some $300 million in grosses worldwide -- because they couldn't make money off action figures, theme park rides, and other forms of merchandising? Well, it turns out the executives at Universal Studios aren't all that concerned with making money, since they've just reunited Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, screenwriter Peter Chiarelli and possibly director Anne Fletcher to make a non-sequel to The Proposal! Wait, what?
According to EW, the stars will reteam for Most Wanted, an action comedy that would follow "a criminal (Bullock) being escorted to court by a U.S. Marshall (Reynolds). Both are ambushed on the way and are forced to go on the run."
So, yes, Universal is just remaking The Bounty Hunter with Bullock and Reynolds reviving their meet-hate roles from The Proposal and calling it something different. But since these actors are charming -- and Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler less so -- then who cares?! Now the bigger question: Is there room for Betty White as a no-nonsense Southern judge?
