Sam Mendes Directing an iPhone Ad? There's an App for That
· Sam Mendes has finally found a way to combat the suburban bleakness of his biggest films with the iPhone's new FaceTime application! In a new ad, the Oscar-winning director of American Beauty and Revolutionary Road shows off the video-chat capabilities and delights us with a Louis Armstrong soundtrack. If only this had been around in the early '50s -- April Wheeler could've flashed her straying husband "I Love You" in sign language before giving herself a fatal abortion in the living room. [Vulture]
· Speaking of iPhone ads, here's a fake one starring Jane Lynch. I mean, Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester. As Jane Lynch. [ONTD]
· NBC premieres a mystery show tonight about a group of people who are kidnapped and quarantined called Persons Unknown. Looks like elements of Lost are in play here -- and for a summer miniseries, it looks pretty damn good. [YouTube]
· MTV apologized for the incessant swearing in their Movie Awards telecast. Psh. They haven't been sorry since putting Trishelle on the air. [THR]
· In other apology news: Mark Wahlberg gave one to Tom Felton for interrupting his speech at the MTV Movie Awards. Good vibrations and sweeeeeeet sen-say-shuh-uh-uhnsss are back again. [ONTD]

Comments
I'm holding out hope there's an extended version of the ad where Tiger Woods gets some FaceTime with a cocktail waitress. *rimshot*
This was NOT a Sam Mendes spot. It was directed by Andrew Zuckerman.

agree pretty much with what you're saying here, not sure about the poster above me though.
Is anyone using the Apple wireless keyboard with their iPad? If so, have you come across any problems?
