AMC Secretly Launching New Drama This Sunday
Last summer, Fox debuted Glee by airing the pilot episode right at the beginning of summer, then kept the rest of the series under wraps until the fall season. AMC is ganking that strategy for the launch of its new drama Rubicon, which launches this Sunday after Breaking Bad and then doesn't return until August 1. There's just one difference -- AMC is barely doing a damn thing to promote it, and the screening isn't even listed on their website. What gives?
THR's James Hibberd gives the heads-up that AMC itself is apparently unwilling to give itself, though you'd think with a network pedigree that includes Mad Men and Breaking Bad, executives there would be touting the conspiracy drama Rubicon every chance they got. Perhaps they're just tired of the pilot burning a hole in their pockets; after all, Rubicon lead Badge Dale told us that they shot the first episode in January... of 2009.

I tried to like _Breaking Bad_, but ultimately I just didn't think it was so great (and definitely not on the same level as _Mad Men_). I do, however, want to check out this pilot and see what the deal is there.
Maybe it's some kind of obtuse marketing/buzz ploy? The show is supposed to be a 'conspiracy thriller'. So maybe not listing the show but secretly airing it is part of the plan. I feel like a 'Lost' allusion would fit in this comment but I don't want to be the one who starts the inevitable comparisons soon to be written after 'Rubicon' airs. 'Lost' and the 'Bourne' movies. I'm calling it right now.
sorry, but breaking bad is a much better series than mad men. mad men is so so serious and it's about advertising for god's sake.
i'll take my amc series with a side of jet black humor please.
Did this really air last night?
