Hollywood Ink: Daniel Craig Gets Tattooed
· Blomkvist. Mikael Blomkvist. Daniel Craig is in talks with Columbia Pictures to star in David Fincher's eagerly awaited adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. If he signs on, Craig would play journalist-turned-detective Mikael Blomkvist, a part originally ear-marked for Brad Pitt. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is another possible franchise for Craig, as the other two books in Stieg Larsson's Millennium series could be turned into feature films as well -- and as is customary nowadays, shot back-to-back. Between this and Cowboys & Aliens it looks like somebody is preparing for the next James Bond to be delayed for quite some time -- if it happens at all. [Deadline]
Jeremy Renner gets his own codpiece, more Marvel casting and the rest of Hollywood Ink after the jump.
· The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner has reportedly entered final negotiations to star as the bow and arrow wielding Hawkeye in The Avengers. Renner would join Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth in the superhero melange. But lest you think this is a big payday, the studio has insisted all the actors take a salary cut to keep costs down for director Joss Whedon. And don't worry: Because the role of Hawkeye is a small one, this will still allow Renner to co-star with Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Paul Thomas Anderson's bananas scientology film, if it ever finds financing. Fingers crossed. [THR/Heat Vision]
· And because Marvel rules the universe -- or Hollywood -- there's more casting to report. Neal McDonough has been added to the roster of stars in Captain America: The First Avenger. He'll play Dum Dum Dugan, one of the original S.H.I.E.L.D. members. Just as long as McDonough doesn't have to participate in any sex scenes. [Deadline]
· After he cleans up the Atlantic Ocean, James Cameron is going to go back to what he does best. Making an Avatar sequel! Maybe. The director told the All Things Digital conference earlier this week that his next film was going to be "some other big film" that uses 3D. So really, that could mean anything. [THR]
· Bruce Willis, Forest Whittaker and Malin Akerman have all signed on for the indie drama Catch .44. Says Variety: "Story focuses on three women -- led by Akerman's character -- being thrust into an extraordinary situation involving a psychopathic hitman, played by Whitaker, a grizzled trucker and a delusional line cook. Willis will play the head crime boss, the mastermind behind everything that happens." If Harry Dean Stanton doesn't get to play the delusional line cook, something is wrong here. [Variety]
