BREAKING: Rue McClanahan Dead at 76
Another grim, alarming summer of celebrity demises seems underway. The sad latest: Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan passed away earlier this morning after suffering a massive stroke. She was 76.
Best known for her role on the hit series as Blanche Deveraux, McClanahan had a smaller stroke earlier in the year while recovering from bypass surgery. According to her manager, she was surrounded by friends and family at the time of her passing. McClanahan's death leaves Betty White as the only surviving Golden Girl. As the song says, thank you for being a friend, Rue.
