Hollywood Ink: James McAvoy Jumps to the Head of X-Men: First Class

mcavoy_tmi_top.jpg· James McAvoy is aboard X-Men: First Class, joining the franchise reboot as a young Charles Xavier -- the professor and mutant-hero aggregator played by Patrick Stewart in the original series of films. More vanilla casting to follow; if anyone wants to start a Facebook campaign for Gabourey Sidibe in this one, I would totally join. [LAT]

Bruce Willis gets locked up, Sorcerer's Apprentice gets moved up, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.

· Bruce Willis is talking to Summit Entertainment about starring in The Tomb, a prison flick about the world's leading penitentiary consultant faced with breaking out of one of his own maximum-security facilities. Antoine Fuqua, who previously worked with Willis on Tears of the Sun, is also in talks to direct. [Deadline]

· Disney has decided to give you The Sorcerer's Apprentice two days early, moving the Nicolas Cage tentpole from July 16 to July 14. Don't everybody thank them at once. [Deadline]

· New Line has said yes to a fifth Final Destination film, which will also be in glorious, ridiculous 3-D. [Vulture]

· Reese Witherspoon may have been offered a role in P.T. Anderson's untitled, unofficial Scientology film. Just putting that out there. [The Wrap]

    "Vanilla casting" Racist much?

  • I've always wanted to see James McAvoy's shiny bald head, but this isn't what I meant.

  • Oh fucking please. "Vanilla" = boring.
Don't go pissing in our commenter pool; people might want to use it this weekend.

Vanilla=boring?? Since when?? It is not only racist, it's stupid!

  • Christy says:

Oh, please. And who would you suggest plays the professor, oh genuis of creative casting? Will Smith, presumably.
Also - Gadbourey Sidibe should not be in anything else, never mind X-Men. The woman is appalling, and no more than an average actress who scored good material. Just because she is fat, doesn't make her a great actress OR a good person.
