Hollywood Ink: Cary Elwes is Back! (Sort of?)

cary_elwes_ink.jpg· If you're anything like me, you've been missing Cary Elwes at the multiplex. So give thanks for Ivan Reitman's taste and consideration, as the director has recruited Elwes (who currently has, like, 100 rumored projects in the works including Saw VII, Yellow Submarine and The Adventures of Tintin) to co-star in the Untitled Ashton Kutcher/Natalie Portman Sex Comedy. The actor will play a physician who works with Portman's character and "develops a flirtatious relationship." This is still opening Jan. 7; presumably they'll start filming it soonish. [Variety]

Horrible Bosses carves another notch on its ensemble bedpost, and a few other scraps from the pre-holiday news wasteland as Hollywood Ink continues after the jump.

· Jason Sudeikis is the latest talent domino to fall in the Horrible Bosses casting sweepstakes, joining the comedy as a co-conspirator with Jason Bateman and Charlie Day to kill each others' bosses. Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell are still locked in as the titular targets. [THR]

· Tim Blake Nelson will play a dim-witted bank robber in Flypaper, the bank-heist comedy co-written by Hangover screenwriters Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Patrick Dempsey will co-star and co-produce. [Variety]

· For the most telling glimpse at Hollywood's news vacuum just before the long Memorial Day weekend, how about this breaking news from our sister site Deadline: "Burr Steers To Direct Julius Caesar Film Based On Conn Iggulden Novels." Yowza! The Conn Iggulden? [Deadline]

  • Babs says:

I think he is an excellent choice and I was wondering who they were going to cast in that role which is very important in the overall story.
It's a romantic - comedy but smart with a different twist. It will be nice to see him on screen again.

  • Stu, I'm sure you don't really care, but that Reitman movie has been filming for a few weeks already. Elwes must just be a late add.
