6 Questions Raised By the News of a Soapdish Remake
2. Rob Reiner is attached? Again, why?
3. According to Pajiba, the film will be set behind the scenes of a telenovela, presumably necessitating brand new characters and a passel of story changes. So...do we really need to call this Soapdish?
4. I mean, seriously. It's not as though this film's target audience will have even heard of the original Soapdish. You know who will have heard of it, though? People who don't want it to be remade.
5. Will the film eventually shoot in the summer? Because there is no way in hell that Sofia Vergara will let this project fall through her fingers during a Modern Family hiatus.
6. Is James Franco available?

What a travesty. Kopfgeschlagen.
Blech. Leave it alone!
The first one was horrifically bad anyway. Who cares?
While I normally support remaking a film that had a good central idea, but a poor execution, I just don't think Soapdish had a good central idea.
I'm all for the idea provided they do one thing: keep Garry Marshall's character exactly intact, and get him to play it entirely in Espanol. That man's voice is as fantastic as an Arnold Palmer on a hot July afternoon, in any language.
You're move, Hollywood.
Sally Field's hair and make up in that photo is hysterical. Yeah I know it was the mid-80's, but still...
It was 1991.
My brain fever is flaring at this news! Someone decapitate me!
Look at it this way, people: every minute they spend remaking "Soapdish" is a minute they don't spend remaking "Tootsie". Personally, I'd rather they base-jumped from the front porch than from the 120th floor.
Are those our only choices?
