The CW Fall Schedule Embraces Logic, Vampires
Mock The CW if you will, but it appears they have learned from past mistakes. Or at least from the now-jettisoned Melrose Place. The schedule of shows that the Little Network That Really Can't tossed out for the fall season this morning is filled with smart risks, logical pairings and plenty of demographically friendly content. If only NBC was this clear-eyed in their goals. Alert your teenage daughter and read on for the full schedule.
[Bold denotes new show]
MONDAY
8:00 PM: 90210
9:00 PM: GOSSIP GIRL
Pairing 90210 with Gossip Girl is logical, but it will also probably expose the many flaws of the former series. Most notably, that it isn't as trashy or smart as it thinks.
TUESDAY
8:00 PM: ONE TREE HILL
9:00 PM: LIFE UNEXPECTED
Two shows you don't watch get moved to a new night. Hooray! And to answer your second question: Yes, One Tree Hill is still on the air.
WEDNESDAY
8:00 PM: AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL
9:00 PM: HELLCATS
The logline for Hellcats is Bring It On meets Election. You'll probably want to add that to the DVR immediately.
THURSDAY
8:00 PM: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
9:00 PM: NIKITA
It's obviously a smart move for The CW to use its breakout show to help launch a new series, but Nikita doesn't seem like the absolute perfect choice to follow a show about vampires. Unless star Maggie Q's assassin turns out to be a werewolf. Then, sure.
FRIDAY
8:00 PM: SMALLVILLE
9:00 PM: SUPERNATURAL
