TV Bites: NBC Bans Reporter From Upfronts After Programming Leak
· You know how NBC's fall line-up was announced online this past weekend instead of at the Peacock's Upfront presentation, per usual? That is because James Hibberd, the Hollywood Reporter's television editor, sneaked into a video rehearsal of the presentation and leaked the programming. NBC has since retaliated by banning Hibberd from today's presentation (which, technically, he already saw) and canceling his one-on-one interviews with network executives Jeff Gaspin and Angela Bromstad. Maybe next year, NBC should spring for some extra security... or a venue other than the New York Hilton. [The Wrap]
ABC pulls the plug on another sitcom, Fox builds a new comedy night and more TV Bites after the jump.
· Not surprisingly, ABC has canceled its Alyssa Milano sitcom Romantically Challenged. [Deadline]
· Fox has designed a new Tuesday night comedy line-up for the fall which includes Glee and new shows Raising Hope and Running Wilde. [NYT]
· Fox and TBS have picked up The Big Bang Theory for syndication. [THR]

I think there are a couple of different trends at play here and they're all becoming clear with the different schedules being presented this week - the network sitcom is "back" (even though it didn't really ever go anywhere -- but look at Modern Family, Parks & Rec, Big Bang, etc. to see why there will be even more of them next year), and other standard shows are falling - legends like Law & Order, Lost or 24, and even American Idol is on decline. This should be an interesting year for upfronts, and even more so for new shows in general. I'm looking forward to fall (for a first time in a long time!) http://thesmogger.com/2010/05/17/next-years-tv-now/
