The Election and American Pie actor is the star of an excruciating new YouTube video that purports to be his audition tape for Mamma Mia!, and it involves a level of singing and cringing not experienced since The Comeback went off the air. At Movieline HQ, we're split over whether the video is a put-on or not -- I'm leaning toward "fake," but even so, I don't know what to do with this information. Maybe he just wanted to be a trending topic on Twitter for once?

Okay, can anyone honestly say this performance was worse than any other guy that actually starred in that horrible movie? I went to see "Mamma Mia" with a friend of mine, and by the end I was getting extremely jealous of people who are deaf.
And there's something about this audition that makes me want to marry Chris Klein. Evidently, I'm one of those sick puppies who's attracted to guys that can be vulnerable and desperate at the same time.
I feel this could only have been better-worse if he'd given props to Julia Stiles instead of Mandy Moore. Excruciating early-decade nostalgia!
