Who is the New Actress Accusing Roman Polanski of Sex Abuse?

Roman Polanski's already-embattled fortunes just took a turn for the worse. Today in Los Angeles, actress Charlotte Lewis (who starred in Polanski's Pirates) accused the director of sexually abusing her when she was 16. Was it illegal? Not necessarily, as the age of consent in Paris is 15. Is it an added headache for Polanski? Most definitely.

Radar was on the scene at the press conference, where Lewis was represented by high-profile lawyer Gloria Allred:

Allred says "If Charlotte's allegations are accepted as true; then Mr. Polanski was able to victimize another child while he was a fugitive from justice."

The legal age of consent in Paris is 15.

Allred says she has taken the case to the Los Angeles Police Department and the LA District Attorney's Office. While Lewis would not give specifics, she said "In addition to the fact that both myself and his previous victim were underage, I believe that there are other similarities in the crime that he committed."

She continued, "Mr. Polanski knew that I was only 16 years old when he met me and forced himself upon me in his apartment in Paris. He took advantage of me and I have lived with the effects of his behavior ever since it occurred. All I want is justice."

What do you mean it MIGHT have been legal?
Lewis is alleging that Polanski RAPED her. It doesnt matter that a 15 year old can have sex in France if she was raped.
By her description of the event as similar to the earlier raped she clearly means she was drugged and forcibly anally rape.
Men who rape children often rape them anally so there is no risk of pregnancy.
    Polanski belongs in hell.

Forget it Charlotte, it's Paris' (age of consent)

  • Masculist Blacklist says:

Maybe Eric Holder should apply for higher level classified access, cause he's sure messing with international trade by not putting an end to this charade. Education on the job shouldn't take this long, but there are lots of suitable candidate that could and would step up to his seat, if that'd mean respecting international neutrality of Switzerland and the ability of the USA to meet interest on the debt owed on our deficit.

  • Academy Screamer says:

If it's true, then he's guilty of rape and should be prosecuted and imprisoned, but one must ask, what parent leaves their 16 year old daughter alone with Roman Polanski in his apartment?

  • blech says:

Unfortunately, associating with the sleazy and opportunistic Gloria Allred won't help her case in the court of public opinion. Of course, Polanski's a dirtbag; just read the transcripts on The Smoking Gun.

Wonder if EU citizens can be held against the will of country of citizen ship in switzerland for this long.

  • Max says:

California's Arnold Schwarzenegger could and should give Polanski a pardon after all Arnold also has slept with underage girls in California apparently and according to press, and so there is a Double Standard in California in regards to sexual assault cases.
If you work in the movies based in California and later work for California as California's Governor you get a free pass and are forgiven in California for having sex with minors or for sexually assaulting women with impunity,
but this is not so for Roman Polanski. So why is that pray tell?
One standard for Arnold who works for California Government but not the same standard for Polanski who does not.
Arnie said that Polanski should be treated like everyone else. But why shouldn't Polanski be treated exactly like Arnold. Arnold should pardon Roman Polanski
