What's On: Meat Allison
Medium turns a corner this week as Allison (Patricia Arquette) must go the Rex Harrison root to help find a missing woman -- that's right, she's talking to the animals. I'd hope that a woodsy owl would speak in a British accent and tell her he was in the parlor room at the time of the murder, but the reality is much better (and more salient to the Arquette family) than that. Hold your Golden Retriever close, pray he's not gossiping with your loved ones, and settle in for spooks.
Medium [CBS Friday, 9 PM]
In "Dead Meat," Allison consults the help of a pig to help solve the disappearance of an animal-rights advocate. I don't wish this was a joke. Maybe Patricia Arquette feels obligated to foster a more intimate relationship with meat -- to keep up with her husband.
Friday Night Lights [NBC Friday, 8 PM]
Riggins finally finds a place to stay, and the team wins a new player after a shakeup in West Dillon. Ultimately, like all athletes, the players will be given the opportunity to win fourth place on Dancing with the Stars. So don't feel bad; they've got resources.
Saturday Night Live [NBC Saturday, 11:30 PM]
Alec Baldwin hosts the season finale, and he's well-aware that he has large, lanai-friendly slippers to fill. While I doubt that Baldwin will revive Canteen Boy or Pete Schweddy for his 15th hosting gig, we can count on him interacting onstage with at least one celebrity cameo for the season-ender. Rue McClanahan, anyone?
The 40-Year-Old Virgin [Bravo Friday, 8 PM]
Steve Carell plays a electronics store employee with a glint in his eye and a clueless smile for a personality in this Judd Apatow smash. Catherine Keener and Paul Rudd reaffirm your crushes on them, and Jane Lynch plays a sexually aggressive manager who would lose in a battle of wits (but not libidos) against Sue Sylvester.
