Mercy, Trauma Canceled
Veronica Callahan's defibrillators have been shut down. NBC's first-season drama Mercy, like its extreme counterpart Trauma, has been canceled. I'm unsurprised with both decisions but only disappointed with Mercy. Taylor Schilling was irreverent but sincere in the lead role, Jaime Lee Kirchner won me over as Nurse Sonia, and Michelle Trachtenberg seemed poised for a full mainstream takeover in her first big network role. And to think how excited this cast was when they found out they were picked up for a back nine -- at a strip club. [THR]

Mercy is a great show and is a victim of the insane ratings factor. Networks (in general)need to either monitor every TV in America or give shows more of a chance. I'm really shocked at Mercy getting the axe mainly because of it getting the additional episodes and all the popularity. I will sorely miss it mainly because it had the same formula that Grey's Anatomy did in season one, but executed it way better and Mercy is way more down-to-earth than Grey's.
FYI: Michelle Trachtenberg was on Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 5-7. Though her character did not begin to develop until the end of season 5, she had her name in the opening credits and was a big part in the show, especially with the plot for season 5. She also gained much more screen time in season 6 and 7.
I am disappointed to here that Mercy was cancelled. One of my favorite shows by far! I looked forward to it more than Grey's Anatomy.
I suppose we had all better get used to the corporate big shots telling us what is good and what isn't worth putting on the air; what we can watch and what we can't! I too am very disappointed in Mercy being cancelled. I guess if we had Trump heading the hospital and firing people, it would have made it or joe blows off the street who are given a minute to save a life and win a milllion dollars, it would have been safe. Its too bad the same big shots are not more in tune to what the American public really deems entertainment!
