Hollywood Ink: How Does Another Sam Worthington Franchise Sound?
· Interested in another potential action franchise starring Sam Worthington? Oh. Well, DreamWorks is planning one anyway around Quatermain, the hero of the famous book series by H. Rider Haggard. This one, however, leans sci-fi, with titular explorer returning from a space expedition only to find that humans have vacated Earth. Adventure ensues, probably in 3-D. Worthington will also produce. One of those Three Musketeers films finds a buyer, Patrick Dempsey breaks up a robbery, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.
· Summit acquired Paul W.S. Anderson's 3-D adaptation of The Three Musketeers, which producers are moving up by a month to get onscreen next summer -- thus beating Warner Bros.' own version to the franchise punch. Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans and Matthew Macfadyen are attached as the musketeers, while Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen are aboard as villains Cardinal Richelieu and Rochefort respectively. [THR]
· Patrick Dempsey is attached to star in Flypaper, an action-comedy in which he'd play a man who breaks up two bank robberies -- happening simultaneously at the same bank -- to save the teller of his dreams. Aww! Groan. [Variety]
· Diane Kruger will take a bite of director Stephane Rybojad's big French genre sandwich Special Forces, starring as a journalist kidnapped by the Taliban. Djimon Hounsou, Denis Menochet, Benoit Magimel and Raphael Personnaz are also attached, presumably as the Frenchmen who call in another nation to save their countrywoman in distress. [Variety]

I still fail to see what Hollywood sees in the charisma-free Worthington.
