ABC Picks Up Grey's Anatomy: The Island
If you ever want the Alphabet network to pick up your medical drama, you'll have to get past Shonda Rhimes first. The Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice creator received news today that her latest endeavor, Off the Map, was greenlit to series, and it sounds like it'll be a hybrid of Grey's and your favorite soon-to-be-over ABC island adventure. Cue the smoke machine.
Instead of taking place in a Seattle hospital or a Santa Monica private practice, Off the Map is set on a tropical island. The lucky actors who will hopefully be transported somewhere exotic for shooting are Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace, Jason George (currently on Grey's), Caroline Dhavernas (Wonderfalls) and Martin Henderson. Still, while this is a good track record for Rhimes, the network did fail to pick up her last pilot, Inside the Box.
In other pilot news, ABC also picked up Body of Proof (a crime procedural starring former Desperate Housewife Dana Delany) and NBC officially greenlit Garza (after a title change to Outlaw) and superhero drama The Cape.

I'm already filling up my DVR so it will never accidentally record that.
She is rocking out right now! To have 2 hit shows is a great accomplishment, but now she's going for 3! Wow!
