You may already know what the secret scene at the end of Iron Man 2 is, but that won't stop Paramount from taking some pretty extraordinary measures to protect that and yet another secret J.J. Abrams stunt from reaching viral audiences early.

First, the Abrams news: The producer-director is rumored to have a secret project on the way, starting this weekend with a trailer in front of IM2. One report cites its title as Super 8, adding as well that it's some kind of sequel to Cloverfield. Whatever; we'll find out before Thursday midnight Iron Man screenings.

Which is another another thing: Check out the precautions Paramount has undertaken to prevent the early dissemination of Iron Man 2's opening, its climax and the Abrams trailer apparently packaged along with it:

A combination code? Unbelievable. I really am at a loss for anything to say about this except that it had better be the most phenomenal trailer ever. The last thing we need is precedent for Summit to keep us from Breaking Dawn trailer haiku when the time arises.

Considering the film's already out all over Europe, this seems a little bit pointless.

  • John says:

It's really nothing to do with the trailer. Paramout locks all of its movies now and doesn't release the code utill the day it shows. It makes it difficult for theatres to properly screen the movies and address any techical issues.

  • Agree with badblokebob - what's the point in this when the movie is already in cinemas?
And isn't the whole idea of a trailer the idea of it going viral and building buzz for the movie? How can that happen when no-one's allowed to talk about it :-

  • Neat blog layout! Very easy on the eyes.. i like the colors you picked out
