Welcome Michael Atkinson, Movieline's New DVD Columnist!
When the backlog of DVD's congesting your office is so troublesome that A&E sends a Hoarders camera crew to film an episode, then you know you've got a problem. That's why we went to a professional for some discriminating intervention. So! Please welcome the esteemed Michael Atkinson, who, starting today, joins Movieline as our resident DVD columnist and all-around video guru.
You might know Mr. Atkinson from his illustrious work at The Village Voice, IFC.com, Sight & Sound, SPiN, Boston Phoenix, In These Times, The Believer, The L Magazine, Film Comment and elsewhere, including many years of contributions to Movieline when it a magazine. He is also the author of seven books, including Flickipedia (co-authored with his lovely wife Laurel Shifrin) and two novels, Hemingway Deadlights (2009) and Hemingway Cutthroat, coming this summer from St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books.
Michael will provide expert reconnaissance from the DVD/Blu-ray front several times per week, starting this afternoon. Your input and conversation is encouraged as always. Please say hello!

Hi, Michael!
First Stephanie Z., and now Michael Atkinson? You sure know how to pick 'em, Movieline. I bow to your ability to secure the sharpest critics.
I second Nick Mcc. Two damn fine critics. Nice work. (And I really, really hope you keep Michelle Orange...)
Hello Michael, nice to greet you, maybe there will be time for a chat after you get those Hoarders cleared out. Chop-chop. Ciao!
