EXCLUSIVE: The Full Steven Seagal Story Jenny McCarthy Told Movieline in 1998
When Steven Seagal was sued earlier this week for sexual assault and trafficking women for sex, CBS News dug up an excerpt from a 1998 interview with Movieline where actress Jenny McCarthy appeared to confirm Seagal's tendency for inappropriate behavior. We reached into our back issues to provide you with the entire anecdote.
Movieline's Stephen Rebello conducted the interview with McCarthy to promote her new film BASEketball, and the actress was unusually candid, discussing all the film parts she'd lost, like Mallrats ("Kevin Smith didn't even wait until I was out of the office to start laughing. So rude"), and the ones she'd turned down, like Drew Barrymore's role in Batman Forever ("I didn't want to play a fluff") and Elizabeth Berkeley's in The First Wives Club ("Even though that movie would have let me work with one of my absolute idols, Goldie Hawn, I wouldn't play a girl who sleeps with someone to get fame").
The audition that really wounded her, as Rebello would find out, was the one she had to do in front of Seagal:
When I press her on the subject, the hurt in her voice says she's still freaked. "I went to the audition for Under Siege 2 with, like, 15 other Jenny McCarthys. These girls came in and out of his office and I was last. Steven comes out and goes, 'Hmm, so you're last.' I'm thinking, 'Shouldn't a casting person be doing this?' I go inside his carpet, which has shag carpet and this huge couch, and he's by himself and says, 'Sit on the couch.' I have my [script pages] and I say, 'OK, I'm ready,' but he says, 'No, I want to find out about you.' I knew what was coming. He goes, 'So, you were Playmate of the Year,' and I was trying to go--" Here, McCarthy breaks off and adopts a Laverne & Shirley blue-collar foghorn delivery: "Yeah, but, like, I lived in Chicago, see, and..."
The accent was apparently no turnoff. "I was wearing this very baggy dress," she continues, "which I always wear to auditions, with my hair pulled back. I'm listening to him go on and on about how he found his soul in Asia and is one with himself and whatever. When I said, 'Well, I'm ready to read,' he said, 'Stand up, you have to be kind of sexy in the movie and in that dress, I can't tell.' I stand up and he goes, 'Take off your dress.' I said, 'What?' and he said, 'There's nudity.' I said, 'No, there's not, or I wouldn't be here right now.' He said again, 'There's nudity,' and I said, 'The pages are right in front of me. There's no nudity.' He goes, 'Take off your dress.' I just started crying and said, 'Rent my [Playboy] video, you a**hole!' and ran out to the car." That wasn't quite the end of it. "I'm closing my car door and he grabs me and says, 'Don't you ever tell anybody.' He won't sue me or say anything because he knows it's true. If I saw him today, I would still say, 'You're a f***ing a**hole and I really hope you change your ways.'"
Seagal's lawyer, Marty Singer, said this week about the sex claims: "The lawsuit filed by Kayden Nguyen against Steven Seagal is a ridiculous and absurd claim by a disgruntled ex-employee who was fired for using illegal narcotics." He also called the suit a "complete fabrication without a scintilla of truth."

There is a story which states someone once bet Michael Ovitz to see if he could make anyone a star. The person selected for the challenge was Ovitz's Martial Arts instructor> Steven Seagal.

ps- thx so much for unearthing this and putting it into daylight again. people like him think they can always get away with this by smearing their accusers, and they usually do. maybe he can get at least a little tarnish though, but nobody seems to care that he's such a piece of garbage.
Seagal always appeared to me to be exactly what McCarthy says he is.
Besides that he could neither act nor fight his way out of a paper bag -- all his fight scenes are highly coreographed slow motion stunts. Yet he portrays himself as some sort of super-stud.
seagal will probably pay dearly for all of this, but people like GBTW believe jenny mccarthy is some kind of angel. mccarthy poses for playboy to enhance her image as a sex symbol,and then she blanches at doing a nude scene for a major motion picture? mccarthy just can't have it both ways. frankly, it's hard to tell who the bigger asshole is in this story.
Well, if it's anything like Rodriguez's other movies, their are probably way too many superfluous characters who could easily be edited out anyway.
McCarthy, with her posing for Playboy, ended her innocent status, and I think she's an outright liar.
What what what? What are the commenters above saying? That if you choose to do a Playboy shoot you are automatically morally suspect? That if you pose for Playboy you must then be willing to appear naked in every other context for the rest of your career?
I'd understand it if folks were saying "Yeah, but I wouldn't trust McCarthy because she was very devious and untruthful about XYZ". But... huh? There seems to be a little reactionary virgin/whore stereotyping going on here...

About 4 years ago I was backstage filling in for a friend in Los Angeles and Seagal made the mistake of ordering me to get his guitar tuner.... I said "I ain't getting you S##T" !!! He got in my face and tried to get security to remove me..I just laughed..That didn't work cause I made friends with the security guys a few hours earlier, since we had a lot in common from serving in the USMC...
Well the stage manager told Seagal to watch himself and had my back...
For the rest of the evening everyone back stage had a Seagal story of how badly he treats people on his sets...Even the caterers did not like him.... He takes advantage of people by promising them roles in his upcoming movies...plays them for what he can get out of them, then you never hear from him again...

I don't know either of them but if intuition and common sense count, my two cents is that McCarthy is to be believed.
I get a kick over people (Whalen) calling other people morons and calling their ideas "retarted". Dude- I hope your fighting skills are a whole lot better than your spelling and grammer skills.
The issue isn't Jenny's "morality" in doing a Playboy spread. The issue is her apparent "innocent" personality in the beginning, then an "adult" personality by doing the Playboy spread, then, according to these articles, we are to belive that she has reverted to the "innocent" personality, unable to deal with "adult" issues any longer.
This isn't an issue about the "right" or "wrong" of "adult" magazines, videos, etc. Freedom of Choice allows individuals to decide their own consentual path. HOWEVER, trying to make people believe that she's suddenly "innocent" again. Even the likes of Traci Lords, a one time "adult" star, was rumored to have left that life behind, BUT she did not pretend to suddenly revert to being "innocent".
I have trouble believing Jenny for this reason. Her claims that, suddenly, she was offended and became ultra-sensitive at just the comments being made to her are very highly suspect. And based on other research of her other activities, I highly question her honor and ethics when it comes to her trustworthiness.
Whether Steven did or didn't say what she claims, the fact is, Jenny presents a poor case as to the different personalities she's had. Either she's "adult" enough to handle both having done a spread in Playboy AND having rather "adult" conversation, or she isn't. And I'm more likely to believe the former and that this suit is a farce and that her claims that she was even offended and insulted, even the acts even occurred, are false.

And, yes, I AM aware that it is someone other than Jenny that has filed the lawsuit. However, it is claims such as those by Jenny that fueled and are being used to justify this suit, making the lawsuit less and less credible because it is fueled by the rumor and, most likely, lies and deceit of those rumors.
A circumstantial case would be fueled by various rumors. And would far more likely fail without those rumors. Hence, supporting those rumors as "fact" would grant someone after numerous rumors to try to cash in with additional rumors and, potentially, misinformation.
Making the lawsuit itself less likely to be valid than the original rumors.

Look...Playboy is one of two things, a move of desperation for fading actresses, or a move of desperation for girls who have no other talent than their looks and MAYBE ability to tell you what the weather will be like tomorrow if they can see the teleprompter.

Mr. Seagal is a deputy sheriff in Jefferson Parish, La. ALL those guys are honorable men. Therefore he's an honorable man. He would NEVER resort to such indignities.

Within the past month, I saw a very enlightening discussion Jenny McCarthy had with the panel on THE VIEW about her choice of promoting herself through her sex-appeal rather than "screwing" her way to the top of the entertainment biz. She said she intentionally did P-Boy to promote her as a sexual object, but never had sex with anyone to advance her career.
Segal has never had any acting talent, other than he can read, and I wouldn't put all these accusations in any kind of compartment.
As far as him being a deputy sheriff in Parish, LA, I personally know of 2 cases where deputy sheriff's are being covered up by the local political group for murder!
