Captain America Just Dodged a Bullet
Though most of the contenders for the title role in Captain America are buff pretty boys, producers have signaled an interest in offbeat casting choices -- just look at rumored frontrunner John Krasinski, for example. However, no one had any idea how horrifyingly far afield the casting net had gone until last night, when stand-up comedian and enthusiasm monger Dane Cook tweeted that he had auditioned for the role.
Even his normally devoted fans reacted with skepticism, but Cook confirmed the tweet, adding "They might b goin young. I say go RDJr route-gimme the part!" Cook hasn't appeared on any casting shortlists and is the oldest known contender at 37, which may limit his chances even more so than the absence of a Louis CK audition to crib from. [Twitter]

It's easy to mock this but with the recent Mo'Nique Oscar win for a pretty heavy drama it might not be so far-fetched a possibility.
He's only doing it because someone told him Louis CK did it last week.
And considering that his box office record is so lackluster he doesn't even rate a page on Box Office Mojo, the producers would be better off with a complete unknown.
This makes perfect sense, Captain America was just a lame rip-off of Superman.
