Hollywood Ink: Wanted 2 Unwanted by Angelina Jolie
· In mildly surprising sequel news (and a not-inconsiderable setback for Universal), Angelina Jolie has reportedly waved off the long-discussed Wanted 2 in favor of Gravity, which Alfonso Cuarón has in development over at Warner Bros. -- which recently picked the project up from turnaround at... Universal. In response, Universal scrapped its sequel rather than recast it, which makes no sense considering the whole (spoiler alert!) shot-in-the-head-and-killed plot point that affects Jolie's character anyway. Can they not cast someone else at a fraction of the price and sell the brand, like every other franchise? What am I missing here? [Vulture]
Nicole Kidman makes a top-heavy romcom top-heavier, Hall Pass keeps packing 'em in, and more Hollywood Ink after the jump.
· Nicole Kidman and Brooklyn Decker are joining the cast of the Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston romcom formerly known as Pretend Wife, about a man who enlists a fake family to help win the girl of his dreams. Sports Illustrated swimsuit-issue cover model Decker is the dream girl, and Kidman will join in what's expected to be a cameo-style capacity. [THR]
· Three cheers for the Farrelly brothers, whose new casting of Christina Applegate, Alyssa Milano, Larry Campbell and Vanessa Angel in their currently filming comedy Hall Pass -- alongside Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis, Jenna Fischer, Amanda Bynes, Stephen Merchant, J.B. Smoove, Nicky Whelan and Derek Waters -- means the siblings are keeping nearly a third of Hollywood's talent gainfully working all by themselves. [THR
· Sacramento, represent! Camellia City native Brie Larson will star alongside Michael C. Hall in East Fifth Bliss, play a teenager with whom Hall's New Yorker has an ill-advised affair. Lucy Liu will join them -- in the cast, not in bed, though who knows, really -- as his neighbor. [Variety]
· Not to be outdone, Leighton Meester will also have a relationship with an older man (played by Hugh Laurie) in New York in the indie comedy The Oranges. [Variety]
