2. Colbert's Hunter-Gatherer Instincts
Unlike his network rivals, Stephen Colbert (and Jon Stewart) focus on more esteemed guests -- authors, politicians, newscasters. The brief interviews are sometimes fun, but not usually enough to keep viewers from switching channels to see who Letterman is talking to. If that was true for you last night, you missed Colbert's genuinely entertaining discussion with a guy that no one cares about -- a real life caveman. The guest's answers were so entertaining that Colbert couldn't help but drop out of character towards the end of the segment.
