Hollywood Ink: Bill Murray, Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke Take Early Lead For Odd Trio of 2010

· Bill Murray has joined the cast of Passion Play, a romantic thriller featuring Murray as the bad guy opposite leads Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke. Murray will play a gangster named Happy, who apparently attempts to thwart a budding relationship between a down-and-out trumpet player (Rourke) and a "winged beauty (Fox) who's now part of a sideshow attraction at a carnival." Sounds interesting, but they really ought to just fake the movie and sell tickets to the raucous, candid and eminently quotable press tour to follow. I'd guess it'll start September in Toronto; production began Monday. [THR]

· I'm shocked it took this long: Paramount has recruited screenwriter Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert to develop a sequel to Paranormal Activity. The original $15,000 thriller topped out last year around $151 million in worldwide grosses, and the follow-up is slated to milk that audience in the lead-up to Halloween 2010. The official title and prospective plot are under lock and key, but there will probably be a ghost or two, and in the spirit of equality, it'll be the guy's fault this time. [THR]

· WWE Studios is done messing around with Lionsgate and Fox, now choosing instead to produce its films in-house and self-distribute through a service deal with Samuel Golwyn Pictures. It's also getting into more family-friendly fare, which is great for guys like current champ the Undertaker, who has reportedly been pestering WWE boss Vince McMahon about his daycare-comedy script for years now. · As expected, Clark Gregg will continue touring the Marvel circuit for a while longer: He is now booked to reprise his Iron Man character Agent Coulson in the currently shooting Thor. [Variety]

· Speaking of franchises, Jesus is one that could probably use a sequel. Or so hopes an independent producer who is putting together a $20 million religious spectacle called The Resurrection of the Christ for Easter 2011. His words, not mine: "It's as much about the key players as it is about Jesus. We want to bring in the Gladiator dimension of the first century against the political milieu of the time."
