Katie Holmes Joins Lesbian Moms Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as Late Sundance Adds
If you thought the original Sundance 2010 program announcement was just a tad lacking in star power (sorry, K-Stew!), then hopefully the organizers' latest additions will settle at least some of those cravings. Among them: A Katie Holmes-led, Big Chill-style ensemble comedy and the Annette Bening/Julianne Moore sperm-donor drama that was all but made for Park City. And another Sundance alum is coming along for the ride as well.
Anyone (even us!) could have seen Lisa Cholodenko's "drama with a sexy script" The Kids Are Alright headed to the festival when it was announced earlier this year. Maybe not so much with the Holmes/Anna Paquin/Elijah Wood/Josh Duhamel/Malin Ackerman/Adam Brody effort The Romantics, which only started this fall and clearly is betting on a sale in Park CIty. Rush jobs can be dangerous, though, even with a cast like that, so we'll keep an eye on it and report back from Sundance. (Both films are out of competition.) Also headed to the fest: Bend it Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha will arrive with the world premiere of the comedy It's a Wonderful Afterlife, her fourth Sundance entry since 1992. Congrats to all! And don't stand us up, Katie.
