Top Chef: Just Desserts Could Achieve Record Levels of Lakshmi Disinterest
Bravo's Top Chef has become the network's reality-competition stronghold following the hasty departure of Project Runway, and now it produces spin-offs faster than the average network crime drama. Top Chef: Just Desserts, a competition for pastry chefs, will begin airing sometime in 2010. Padma Lakshmi's return as Catatonic Emcee remains to be seen, but I definitely prefer her over Top Chef Masters's Kelly Choi thanks to one of Lakshmi's fantastic, Quickfire-related accomplishments.
Hosting duties for a dessert-related cooking show necessitate strong eatin' skills. Padma proved her gastrointestinal prowess during the second episode of Top Chef: New York, in which she took sizable bites from fifteen different hot dogs. In the culinary world, that amount of oil and meat is known as "the full Colicchio" and considered unmentionable. I believe she completed the task with a smile, also. That's my Padma: as icy and impenetrable as still-smoking Baked Alaska.

So, would her exceptional wiener skills be linked to the fact that she now has a bun in the oven?
Padma Lakshmi: Kielbasa Queen of the 00's.
So, she's getting your praise because she took one bite of fifteen gourmet hot dogs?? Lord, give me a TV show, because I will blow your mind!!
I love that you called her a catatonic emcee. She is beautiful but she seems vacant without joy or real expressions of any depth. She is hosting a show, but still. She is definitely not a lively host.
