Roman Polanski's Victim Files for Case Dismissal, Cites Media Pressure
Samantha Geimer, the woman whom Roman Polanski drugged and raped when she was 13 (and with whom the director later settled out of court), has had pretty much enough of this Polanski-arrest-and-extradition drama over the last month. Citing intense media scrutiny, health problems, job duress and periodic calls from Larry King himself, Geimer on Friday filed a motion to dismiss the case against Polanski and get back to what's left of her life in Hawaii.
Geimer, 47, has received more than 500 calls for interviews from news sources around the world, according to her lawyer. Among them are requests from King, Oprah and every glossy magazine on the newsstand, all apparently wanting soliciting her exclusive! take! on Polanski's detainment and imminent extradition to the United States 31 years after fleeing sentencing in the unlawful-sex-with-a-minor case against him. And, the filing added, they're all chipping away at what quality of life remains since Geimer forgave Polanski years ago:
"The pursuit has caused her to have health-related issues," it said. "The pursuit has caused her performance at her job to be interfered with and has caused the understandable displeasure of her employer and the real possibility that Samantha could lose her job."
The filing seeks dismissal of the case against Polanski and ends with a request: "Leave her alone."
Done. Larry? You too. Cut it out. The part about the dismissal, though? Not... so... much. Sorry about that.

Is there anyone, anywhere, who doesn't wish this whole awful situation would just stop? Stop. Stop. Stop.
Well, I guess he won't be going to prison after all. Unless they drop the rape charges and keep the charges against him for fleeing the country. It is just unfortunate that the media continues to harass her even after she said she wants to left alone. Chances are no matter if they drop the charges or not the media will continue to harass her.
And I hate how Polanski supporters use her wanting to be left alone as a way to let him off the hook.
Waitaminnute...All's it takes is getting a kid to ask for charges to be dismissed?
Nice!
Looks like the Catholic church might finally be catching a break!
Of course it must suck for her to have to relive this all again, and to have all the unwanted attention, but since when did third parties have standing to file motions to dismiss in criminal cases? It's the state, not the victim, who is prosecuting Polanski. And in any case, the charges for fleeing the country certainly have nothing to do with her.
It's funny that you call Geimer a third party to her own rape.
