Three Potential Takes On the Inevitable Taylor Swift-Kanye West SNL Segment

Shortly after Saturday Night Live announced that Taylor Swift would host its November 7 show, news outlets rushed "Taylor-Kanye Skit!" headlines in giddy anticipation of an actually funny topical sketch. The Associated Press was the first to track down MTV's most famous VMA interuptee so that she could cheekily poke fun at her arsenal of material for Studio 8H: "I've been thinking about skit ideas for a long time...There are definitely some hilarious things that have happened to me over the past couple of months that I think will be pretty substantial skits."

We get it, there will be a Kanye sketch, but the real money is on what kind of Kanye segment the show will choose. Three possibilities after the jump.

1. Monologue Interruptions

Saturday Night Live sometimes squanders its most topical material during the monologue (e.g. Alec Baldwin thanking Christian Bale for relieving him of the "most vicious taped recording" title after Bale's infamous on-set rant), so it wouldn't be surprising if Swift's monologue is repeatedly interrupted by castmates. Faux-frustrated, Swift finally throws out her script and takes audience questions instead. After a few mentions of Swift's VMA incident, the flustered host picks one last person, who just happens to be Kanye West.

2. Digital Short Interruptions

This morning, Swift revealed that she is most excited to work with Andy Samberg on a digital short, since "they've been done so well." Since Swift is so sweet-natured, she could maximize her short by adopting an angry, Natalie Portman-rapping style as she and co-performer Samberg show up around NYC repeatedly interrupting Kanye West. Mid-Starbucks order, mid-prescription refill, mid-sushi dinner, and mid-bathroom break, gangsta Taylor bumps him out of the way to shout "Imma let you finish but..."

3. Duet With Kanye

Special guest Kanye West joins Taylor on stage for a special performance, hands her a bouquet and then proceeds to duet with her on a very special, very weird rendition of "Love Story." Since West recently bowed out of his "Fame Kills" tour, he's certainly got time to join Swift onstage in November, and even though he's already apologized to her via blog, tearful Jay Leno Show sit-down and personal phone call, his image could use a little self-mockery clean-up. We could use it, too: If he decides to forgo a cameo, we might just have to settle for a Kenan Thompson impression.

#1 because as much as i would want to see a kanye/swifty performance, i can't think of a song of hers that would be appropriate since he plays no instruments and can't sing.

    you are right with #1

My suggested rap verse for Kanye to spit after the second chorus of Taylor's You Belong With Me SNL performance:
So Taylor you say we meant to be together
Like Al Roker and the weather
    Like Melrose Place and Heather
    Like Louis V. and leather
But I got a girl who wild out on the daily
And she fixin' to have my baby
So how could I call you baby
Like your Miss Grey and I'm Swayze
But if my smile lights up this town
Yours makes Pluto a little brighter
And I'mma always be your fighter
So let's take this union higher
