Roger Sterling Vs. the NYC Sanitation Department
In last night's Mad Men episode, Roger Sterling swiftly shitcanned Sal at the faintest whiff of deal-breaking impropriety. Today, the actor behind Roger Sterling, John Slattery, is attempting to dispose of a real life New York City deal-breaker: the sanitation department's plan to erect a $346 million facility in Slattery's beloved SoHo neighborhood.
The alleged eyesore would house three districts worth of trucks on Spring Street, providing them direct access to the West Side Highway. Though Slattery is not about to throw a blackface-serenading garden party to fundraise for his cause (have you seen how controversial those are lately?), he maintains that the building would be hazardous to SoHo pedestrians since it would dramatically increase daily traffic, air quality and noise in his neighborhood.
Although Slattery joins the celebrity ranks of Michael Stipe, James Gandolfini and Kirsten Dunst in the campaign against the sanitation building, he says that he is fighting for the entire neighborhood:
"It's not a bunch of wealthy people who are just complaining that their views are going to be blocked. It's the actual livability of the neighborhood."

Hey, where we you guys when they built that smelly facility on Riverside Drive and 145th street? Just do what the residents there do, ice skate over it.
