How I Met Your Mentor
Tim Gunn, who still stars on the slowly calcifying, but valiantly recapped Project Runway, is slated to appear on How I Met Your Mother as Barney Stinson's (Neil Patrick Harris) "personal tailor/ fashion consultant" as he "tries to fix a major league 'Suit Catastrophe.'" Why Tim Gunn lets network comedies ghettoize him into style-spewing Mammy roles is beyond me, because his penchant for concealing seething resentment with Project Runway's judges points to stellar acting talent. Isn't there a role Tim could fill without winking at an in-studio audience and cooing, "I guess he really made it work!" A much better cameo idea is explored after the jump.
Tim's silver foxiness and utter candor are both better suited for the kinda-decent Cougar Town, wherein he would play himself as the equally oversharing confidant of Courteney Cox. She might start a scene by noting, "My arms are so frustratingly fleshy!" (She seriously does stuff like that.) Tim could counter with, "Would you rather it be umber and taut? I know a certain sportswear designer with a noggin like petrified pie crust." The two MILFs -- that's Mother and Mentor -- can embolden and harden each other's wit! Courtney's post-Friends recession is over! Tim is saved from the festering stink of Nina Garcia's replacement judges! A nation exhales.
