You Win Some, You Lose Some

It was a week of tests, travails and international meltdowns, and Movieline observed the results with diligence. Take a rest and reminisce with us about the good times, the hard times and everything in between. And most importantly: Have a fantastic weekend.

· So you might have heard that Roman Polanski had a tough week: Busted in Switzerland and debated endlessly around the world. Wikipedia vandalism victim. Darling of the backlash. Subject of a celebrated and suddenly deflated documentary. Things can only get better for him, right? Oh. Well, Humbert Humbert's always got his back.

· Among this week's fine panel of Movieline interviewees, we welcomed Zombieland's tandem of Jesse Eisenberg and Ruben Fleischer, Dominic Monaghan, Shenae Grimes, David Koechner, Alia Shawkat, Johnny Galecki, Fame director Kevin Tancharoen, (500) Days of Summer writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, Verge designee Ari Graynor and Notorious Betty Page filmmaker/Cold Case selectee Mary Harron.

· Trailers for Nightmare on Elm Street, A Christmas Carol, The Book of Eli, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel and The Fantastic Mr. Fox (take two!) all received Two-Minute Verdicts. And our first glimpse of Mel Gibson in The Beaver trumped them all.

· Jenny Slate's fantastic SNL rookie mistake led us to wonder if it's time to decriminalize the onscreen F-bomb.

· Who took the nastier tumble: Kris Allen or Conan O'Brien? And can either of them ever plunge as far and as hard Wolf Blitzer on Celebrity Jeopardy?

· The Beautiful Life sadly earned its place among some of the swiftest cancellations in television history.

· The jury remained sequestered off-site to debate whether or not Community's opening credits contain an inadvertent O.J. Simpson reference.

· We reflected on 20 years of Madonna and Letterman, James Franco's soap-cameo antecedents, and the Australia's unheralded zombie-vampire-soldier crapsterpiece Zombie Brigade.

· This week's episode of Mad Men was pretty good, and it certainly wreaked havoc in our power rankings. But what it really needed was more mangina.
