Charo Covers Rihanna, Nearly Killing Jerry Lewis
The 2009 Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon brought in $5 million less than 2008's festivities, but one priceless artifact was salvaged: the talent of Charo. With her cover performance of Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music," Charo spent Labor Day proving the following: 1) She is alive; 2) Her performance style still combines the agility of Shakira with the delirium of Count Chocula; and 3) She can terrify Jerry Lewis in a way not seen since Sandra Bernhard's dinner scene in The King of Comedy. Clip after the jump.
Say what you will, but she sorta nailed the performance! She also sorta nailed four white guys in the audience, but you have to go the extra mile to entertain at a telethon. If Rihanna weren't too busy allegedly missing that bow-tied do-gooder, she'd have to commend this cleavage-bobbling rendition of her best hit. One question: Where's the flamenco guitar interlude?

It was nice of her to slam her vagina on all those people.
Viva Charo!! 65 years old and sexy as hell! Where does she find the energy???
She was the best part of the whole show, aside from Jerry's occasional "melt downs". Charo and Jerry both still rock!
I haven't seen a Mexican failure this bad since Taco Bell invented the Crunchwrap Supreme.
I like the way the mic in Jerry's lap rose ever so slightly to the occasion of Charo wiggling over it. That was the magic act portion of the evening, right?
charo screaming 'i'm gonna get you!' and taking muscular dystrophy hostages as a fiesta-fied rihanna song plays on... this is a nightmare in progress.
She's from Spain.
Rihanna is simply a very stunning singer. She also looks like a model.
