Meet the Breakout Star of Michael Jackson's Memorial!

Breakouts cannot be chosen; rather, they choose us. Who could have known as we approached this summer that the real stars would not be stalwarts like Will Ferrell but instead Skids the Racist Transformer, Zach Galifianakis, and now, This Very Intense-Looking Singer from the Michael Jackson Memorial? Fortunately, the mysterious man (who began the "We Are the World" verse during the service) has been identified!

According to the sleuths at Oh No They Didn't, his name is the double-letter-heavy "Darryl Phinnessee," and, um, he was nominated for an Emmy for writing the lyrics to "Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs," the theme song for Frasier. Amazing!

Also, Phinnessee is listed at the IMDb as having contributed background vocals to Jackson's music for Dangerous: The Short Films. But really, "Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs" is the achievement here. Kkuddos, Darryl Phinnessee.

If you would like to know more about him, here is his Myspace! He is shirtless and lives in Burbank.

  • JudgeFudge says:

Wow, this guy really is one of the breakout stars of the summer. And how funny is it that all of them have such hard names to spell? Galifinakis, Phinnessee, Mudfla- wait, no the Trasnformers names aren't hard to spell, its just hat the Tranformers can't spell, because they can't read.

Who was the Asian-African-American woman who did most of the singing in those numbers?...am I supposed to know who she was? She was phenomenal!!!

  • GAH! I'm just glad I avoided the Michael Jackson Funereal Extravaganza-Spectacular, brought to you by Joe Cola (with Special Guests Mariah Carey, Brooke Shields, and Magic Johnson) and didn't have to see that live and in action. Are we sure he's not a Jackson relative of some kind; he's kinda got that look. Still, writing "Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs" is kinda cool. If he was smart, the royalties make him a man of leisure.

  • Jevon says:

His face is sooo scary!!!! No, really it is! And what the hell is Tossed Salad & Scramble eggs?

  • What a wonderful idea. I am not totally sure if that is true, but who knows. Would you be kind enough to write another post, but from the opposing vantage point.

  • Khalilah says:

This guy has been working with MJ for a LONG time. I first saw him as the backup singer during his Bad Tour.

  • Pam says:

I am watching him on the part 7 Dangerous Diaries and he was nice looking then.
Seems kind of cocky but he may be showing out for the girl interviewer.
He wasn't all buggy eyed then and the one eye did not look strange. I think he told the interviewer that he won a grammy.

  • Vance Williams says:

Darryl Martin Phinnessee is a good friend of mine. We were roommates in college (Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He was a great singer then and he is a great singer now.
