· The concert promoter behind Michael Jackson's would-be comeback tour says now that the late King of Pop's last rehearsal was recorded with high-definition video and multi-track audio, thus introducing the possibility for a posthumous CD/DVD combo. Assuming the ghoulish promoter, AEG, can vouch in court for its rights to the material, I'm sure the classy title, Michael Jackson: Live! One Night Only isn't far behind. [The Wrap]

After the jump: Stars fade at the box office, another Kurtzman/Orci sighting at Paramount, and much more Hollywood Ink.

· When Ed Asner, Ed Helms and Chris Pine make up the majority of this summer's blockbuster-talent braintrust, is it time for Hollywood to reconsider its allegiance to the A-list? [LAT]

· At least A-list screenwriters still have some pull: Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote the weekend's No. 1 and 2 top grossers, will produce the repossession-industry action-comedy License to Steal for Paramount. It's newly installed Adam Goodman's first acquisition as head of the 'Mount Film Group; Alien vs. Predator mastermind Shane Salerno has been assigned script-writing duties. [Variety]

· From the director and one-third of the stars who brought you Some Kind of Wonderful comes A Town Called Malice, featuring Lea Thompson as a ex-rock star who must rebuild her family in the hometown she fled when she was 16. Her husband Howard Deutch will direct. Which is all well and good, though now I'm going to have the titular Jam song stuck in my head all day long. Great. [THR]

· Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan filmmaker Craig Brewer has signed on to direct Terriers, a pilot for FX. Little is known about the half-hour comedy beyond its attention to an "ex-cop-turned-private eye"; not quite sure what the women-in-captivity angle is here yet, but I'm looking into it. [Variety]

    1. I have a feeling that this story will end in massively expensive lawsuits that'll drain all profitability from the enterprise. I'm not psychic, I've just seen history repeating.
    2. Damn right. Ed Asner is the sex symbol of the 21st Century.
    3. Those two are pretty much all Paramount has. If things keep going like this, they're going to own the place.
    4. ...dum....de...dum...town called malice... doo... deee... dooo...
    5. "not quite sure what the women-in-captivity angle is here yet, but I’m looking into it."
So that's you excuse for those questionable Google searches on your office computer.
