Sacha Baron Cohen Generously Excavates Eminem for Bruno Stunt

Though Universal may be selling Bruno with the tagline "Borat was so 2007," it's Bruno's marketing campaign that seems stuck in a pre-recession era; for some reason, the Bruno viral videos are running on Myspace (a past-its-prime social networking site currently populated by glittery, animated tumbleweeds) and the newest centerpiece promotion for the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy involves Eminem, a rapper whose oeuvre is notable for timelessly poking fun at Tom Green and Fred Durst back in the year 2000.

The two men converged last night at the MTV Movie Awards for a feathery, buttocks-baring stunt that gave new life not just to Eminem's career, but to a hastily scribbled idea that was thrown away at the brainstorming session for Eminem's 2001 Grammys collaboration with Elton John. I can't wait for Bruno's next cutting-edge collaboration with the guy who made "Chocolate Rain," but until then, the following video will have to do:

Now if I could only get Zachary Quinto's taint in MY face.

Is it really that easy? Is there something you're trying to tell me, Kyle?

  • sweetbiscuit says:

If Eminem wasn't expecting that, do you think for a minute he wouldn't have punched Cohen in the (very available) nuts? You just see Eminem whimpering "get him off me" long after the cameras got their closeups. And Eminem has a new CD out after how many years? Zzzzzzzzzz....

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just cringe everytime SBC does something like this. I don't think it helps our (the gay community) cause one bit. Call me a boring old biddy if you want, but as usual I'm decidedly ambivalent about his antics. Something to consider: would Eminem have let an actual gay man perform that stunt? I think not.

  • Nomad says:

poor Eminem, his tough guy persona couldn't save him from Sacha Cohen's pranking

  • sweetbiscuit says:

@ icallthebigonebitey: I agree completely, and I don't even cringe on behalf of the gay community. I just think it is not remotely funny or clever.

  • Emperor Joshua Norton says:

Agreed! Dude is simply not funny, and here in California, where the effing Mormons and the effing Supreme Court have joined together to sanctify religious bigotry, I just don't have the patience for SBC and his desperate need to shock people.

  • What I take into consideration Eminem is that he is by far probably the most proficient poetic artist I've ever laid ears on.
