Peter Berg Will Not Sink Universal's Battleship

· Peter Berg is in talks with Universal to direct Battleship, an adaptation of the popular board game. Screenwriting brothers Jon and Erich Hoeber have been enlisted to write the script, expected to be composed entirely of Dwayne Johnson and enemy commander John Travolta shouting "A-4!", "G-6!", and other tense one-liners between dramatic explosions at sea. · Liam Neeson and Jennifer Connelly are set to appear in What's Wrong With Virginia, the directorial debut of Dustin Lance Black. Connelly will play a "charming but psychologically disturbed" mother whose secret relationship with the local sheriff (Neeson) is tested when their teenage kids start seeing each other. Gus Van Sant will executive produce, i.e. bank a few arty, shirtless snapshots of the rookie director for the promotional tour some time next fall. [Variety]

· When we say "the Verge," we mean it: Two weeks after telling Movieline about his audition for the lead in Kenneth Branagh's Thor, Aussie up-and-comer Chris Hemsworth has reportedly landed the role.
