We're thrilled to introduce you to a new member of the Movieline family: David Bourgeois has spent the last 24 hours with his knees hiked up to his forehead in Air France Rat classe, that he might bring you just a taste of the Cannes International Film Festival experience straight from the topless beaches and thumping discotheques of the French Riviera.

David describes himself as a "a writer, editor, and plenipotentiary." (We had to look that last one up, and luckily it has nothing to do with having served hard time.) His writings have appeared in Spy, Spin, The Village Voice, Entertainment Weekly, Us, Time Out New York, and New York magazine. He recently launched political humor site 236.com, and is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post.

We understand that since arriving on the scene just hours ago, he's already managed to talk his way into the black-tie, festival-opener screening of Pixar's UP!. A full report is pending, to be followed by much more. Look for them in this space, as well as in our special Cannes section, in the upper-right-hand corner of your screen.

Let's give David a warm welcome!
