Internet Cancels Low-Rated Mia Farrow Hunger Strike

farrow_grab.jpg

So: Mia Farrow has been video-blogging her hunger strike to raise awareness for the crisis in Darfur. She insists that she won't eat for 21 days, or until humanitarian groups are allowed back into the region, whichever comes first. It's a pretty intense gesture for anyone to make -- let alone one of Hollywood's most enduringly wispy waifs. But the most harrowing part might be that almost no one is tuning in.

Farrow's first six videos from her fast have averaged less than 600 views apiece on YouTube. But they're quality views, with sensitive comments such as "guys i'm so freaking hungry just get darfur fixed already so i can have a damn sandwich or something god" and "Hunger strike in your own home? How can we verify this?" Clearly it's time for a new approach to activism -- perhaps an outraged dance remix, or urging Miley Cyrus to catch chlamydia. In Darfur's name, of course. Any other suggestions?

I'd like to see some global military forces call for a 24-hour cease-fire and send the day's ammo money to Darfur. If not that, then maybe the Olsen Twins could join Mia so we could curiously seek their short and tragic You Tube flight to nothingness in the name of getting Darfur fixed.
