'Argo' & 'Les Misérables' Take Top Movie Prizes At Golden Globes

Argo won the Best Motion Picture, Drama, while Les Misérables took Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical Sunday night at the 70th Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton. Looking surprise when his name was called, Ben Affleck took Best Director for Argo. He was snubbed for an Oscar nomination last week, but Affleck, who also stars in the film, took Best Director at the recent Critics Choice Awards.

Daniel Day-Lewis, not surprisingly, won Best Actor, Drama for his portrayal of the 16th POTUS in Lincoln, while Jessica Chastain won the Golden Globe in the Actress, Drama category in an emotional speech. Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Lawrence won the Acting prize in the Comedy or Musical category. Cannes Palme d'Or winner Amour by Michael Haneke won the prize in the Foreign-Language category. The film is also nominated for the prize at the Oscars as well as Best Picture.

Les Misérables took home three Golden Globes, while Argo and Django Unchained received two, including the Best Screenplay win for Quentin Tarantino.
