Help Colin Hanks Tell the Sad Tale of Tower Records

Tower Records: It's not just where you saw Suzanne Vega perform an acoustic set to a polite crowd packed between CD racks in 1994. It's a company whose downfall signaled not only a change in the music business but the end of an era. Colin Hanks (yes, the Orange County veteran, Tom Hanks scion, and Movieline pal) is hoping to tell the Tower Records story in a documentary called All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records, except he needs assistance from the movie-loving masses. Hanks says the story hits close to home since Tower Records boss Russ Solomon started the chain in his hometown of Sacramento. Rather than ask his famous father for a loan, Hanks has launched a Kickstarter page to help pay for the documentary. So far, he's scored 19% of his $50,000 goal.
