"Toxic" (New Directions and Schue)
This is clearly the best song from Glee's Britney Spears chapter and deserving of a spot on your treadmill playlist. That being said, this faithful Gleek was a little uncomfortable listening to Matthew Morrison cut in for an oddly sensual vocal run mid-chorus.
GRADE: B+
"I'm A Slave 4 U" (Brittany)
A respectable effort from Heather Morris. The triple threat nails Spears' thin voice in this send-up.
GRADE: B
"Baby One More Time" (Rachel)
Lea Michele's unoriginal take on Britney's career-starter sounds like karaoke number at a small town dive bar. Can I close out my tab? Charice would have killed this one. Just sayin'.
GRADE: B-
"Me Against the Music" (Brittany and Santana)
A fair effort from Morris and her partner-in-crime Naya Rivera, but both actresses could use a few private voice lessons with Lea Michele after school. Failing that, whatever Auto-Tune function makes weak voices sound more confident and commanding would work as well.
GRADE: C+
"Stronger" (Artie)
D-: Sorry Kevin McHale, but no one will be downloading your Britney Gleemix to their iPods. McHale's boy band roots show in this bargain bin single. On the positive side: No rapping.
