Promoting Under the Influence: 9 Drunk Interviews From the Stars

It's been a rough month for Bruce Willis, substance-wise. While promoting Cop Out on Good Morning America last month, the blazed actor could barely keep his eyes open for Robin Roberts. And then just last night, a journalist ran down the smashed actor at the Hornets/Lakers game, shoved a microphone in his face and asked him about March Madness and New Orleans music. Can't a world-famous celebrity enjoy a night of boozy revelry without a follow-up interview?

After the jump, Movieline recalls a few other stars who didn't let a little thing like promotional obligations get in the way of a good buzz.

9. Bruce Willis, Good Morning America (2010)

The Cop Out star was so out of it when he visited the ABC set to plug his film last month that Robin Roberts felt the need to cover for him ("So you said you normally just stay up all night when you do a morning program?") and promptly cut him off after he started rambling on about a Karl Urban a**-beating.

8. Joe Namath, ESPN Sports Coverage (2004)

During the Patriot-Jets game, Broadway Joe told ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber that he really didn't care about the game in front of him, instead revealing, "I just want to kiss you."

7. Cheers Cast, Tonight Show with Jay Leno (1993)

NBC learned the hard way that hosting a live group segment in a packed bar is probably not the best way to celebrate a series finale.

6. Paula Abdul, Fox Morning Show in Seattle (2007)

Oh Paula, how we miss thee. The former American Idol host appeared for a loopy satellite interview to discuss Seattle's brilliant but bad auditioners. "Listen, annnnnnny puuublicittty is gooood publicity. You gotta learrrrn..."

5. John Stamos, Mornings with Kerri-Anne (2007)

Down under to promote his role on ER, Uncle Jesse had one too many drinks before his appearance on the Australian morning show, where he cuddled with the host, slurred through his plans to open a bar (free shrimp nights!) and then ended the segment by drunkenly recalling his memories of Princess Diana's death.

4. Danny DeVito, The View (2006)

After a hard night of limoncello drinking with George Clooney, an admittedly drunk DeVito appeared on the ABC morning show to promote Deck the Halls, talk about the intimate night he spent in the Lincoln bedroom with his wife and try out his impression of George Bush.

3. Tracy Morgan, WGN Morning Show (2007)

Before getting sober, Tracy Morgan hit the Chicago morning show to promote a few stand-up gigs and then simulate giving birth on the anchors' desk.

2. Courtney Love, VMAs (1995)

Aspiring rock stars take note: The best way to crash a Madonna interview is by launching your MAC compact at the icon's head, incoherently discussing astrophysics and then coining the phrase "Elvis doctors."

1. Ben Affleck, Box-Office (2004)

While promoting Jersey Girl in Montreal, Affleck stopped by the cinema television magazine to sexually harass host Anne-Marie Losique and drop politically incorrect statements about the mentally impaired while the Black Eyed Peas played on loop in the background. Not for the faint of heart.
