Finally, The Muppets Get a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Or the, uh, "Wocka Wocka" fame: "Several Muppets were on hand to receive the star including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Pepe, Sweetums, and Walter, the newest Muppet, who made his debut in Disney's 2011 film," reports a press release just over the transom at ML HQ. "The Muppets' star is the 2,466th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is located in front of the historic El Capitan Theatre." Nice real estate! And nice timing — The Muppets is out on DVD and Blu-ray today. The honor comes 57 years after Kermit's first TV appearance. No rush! And congrats to all.

Kermit actually has his own star on the Walk of Fame. This was obviously a Disney ploy to sell more Muppets DVDs. I mean, in front of the Disney-owned El Capitan? Shocking!

Well, obviously. All I'm saying is that for too long, we've been living in a world where Beaker doesn't have representation on the W.O.F. Publicity stunt or not, this wrong has been righted.

      • KevyB says:

I used to always love Beaker, but he didn't do it for me in The Muppets. Animal's always been my favorite and that movie gave him an actual character arc, something I didn't think could happen. But I think the most unsung Muppet is Rizzo. More Rizzo in the sequel!

  • Kermit's swell, sure....but it was ROWLF THE DOG on the
Jimmy Dean Show that pre-dates the Muppets.
    Good job, Rowlf!
