UPDATE 2/3: We have a winner! Congrats to Movieliner Martha, whose 100-word fan fic submission captured our imaginations and brought us closer to Woman in Black star Daniel Radcliffe because really, haven't we all been there?

From Martha:

"Daniel Radcliffe was used to the stares at premieres; he wasn’t used to the silence. Silence which was quickly turning into whispered snickers. His brows furrowed as he made to push through his security personal to begin the trek down the red carpet, but they wouldn’t let him though. He was roughly pushed back into the limo. The door slammed shut. He looked at his hands in his lap in confusion and that’s when he saw it. He didn’t have on any pants. His last thought was 'What did they see?' before his alarm went off and startled him awake."

Congrats, Martha - and thanks to all of our ML wordsmiths for playing!

I walk with friends in NYC near all of the Broadway theaters a lot. Some days we’d see actors coming or going to a performance. One day, as we passed the ‘How to Succeed in Business…’ theater, the one and only Mr. Daniel Radcliffe walked out. My friends immediately turned beet red and couldn’t stop snickering like a couple of schoolgirls. Obviously distracted by their staring and laughing, Daniel turned to me and said ‘What did they see?’ Embarrassed to have to explain my friends’ immaturity I quickly said ‘Equus!’ They looked him up and down as we walked away.

I became Daniel Radcliffe for a day, part of a promotion for December Boys. As Daniel, I would watch other people. "What do they see when they look at me?" Part Dan, of course, but also the pudgy American inside. My hand shook holding a teacup, and I couldn't really see through those glasses. I think I called Richard Griffiths something inapproptiate in British slang. And my god, the girls screaming all the time. I don't know how Dan does it. When I gave him the Daniel suit back, he gave a sad smile. "Congratulations," he said.

  • Destiny Treloar says:

I wait in line anxiously for my ticket for Daniel Radcliffe's new movie, 'The Woman in black', which i have been inpatiently waiting for weeks for. However, while we was waiting, my friends scream 'DESTINY! DANIEL RADCLIFFE' since, i absolutely love and obsessed with Daniel Radcliffe and claimed he was walking toward me. But, i did not see a thing, ''What did they see?'. But he, was hiding from me and surprises me, and says 'Destiny, i love you thank you for being my biggest fan' and gave me loads of signed unique presents, and talked to me for like hours, of amazing stuff, while we watched 'Woman in Black' , i fell in love with my crush, he told me i was gorgeous and my personality is perfect, he even gave me his number ! It was like a date with DANIEL RADCLIFFE, !

  • Meghan McIver says:

I was playing cricket; me against Daniel Radcliffe. I was totally an ameteur at this. Daniel is winning. He is so much better than me! We were deep into the game. The crowd would cheer for me, but I knew it was just to be polite. It was my turn now , my turn to change the game around. I was about to hit the ball, feeling more confident than ever, when all heads turned. What did they see that was more important than this moment? I will never know.

  • TRUSH says:

It was that moment that every medical professional feared, caring for someone famous!! So..here goes, I walk into the operating room and undergoing a procedure for the removal of an unknown inanimate object swallowed client. All spectators were asked, "what did they see" happen prior to Mr. Daniel Radcliffe hitting the ground?? A muggle reluctantly confessed to a real life Quidditch match gone wrong involving the swallowing of the Snitch?? In the end we were SUCCESSFUL in our BUSINESS WITHOUT EVEN trying...DR wakens spits out the snitch.."Close one, aye, fellas?"

  • Tianna says:

I turn the faucet off and take a look at myself. Water streams down the bridge of my nose and the patter of each drop echoes in the silence. Painful. Trails of red run from my forehead leaving a distorted lightning bolt formation. A decade of memories trickle down the drain as the boy I once became wholeheartedly took his leave, only looking back to flash a childish, yet sorrowful grin. I glance at my reflection again and study those blue eyes staring back at me and wonder, "What do they see...?" Something distant answers, "New beginnings."

  • Kaitlyn Dunbar says:

I say in the limousine peering out at all the fans lined up. I saw Emma walk through them, everyone screaming with the excitement to surrounded us. Ruppert was next, girls going wild from the glint of his smile. It was my turn. I bravely stepped out into the hyper mass of fans, all screaming,"Daniel! Daniel Radcliffe! We love you!" as I walked towards my cast mates, my friends. I wondered, what did they see? Did all of these people see the transformation everyone had? Did Emma and Ruppert see just how much our characters are apart of us? Did I see just how much I was going to miss the boy who lived? No matter what the answers, I knew it was time to say goodbye to someone I had grown to love. Someone who woul always be part of me. Goodbye to Mr. Harry Potter. And all was well.

  • Shady says:

Daniel Radcliffe ducked into the alley behind the Alamo Drafthouse, enjoying the cool air...until the fire exit slammed shut. He tested the knob and sighed.
He heard a whispery laugh and saw a woman slip through a side door, her black gown trailing behind her. “God bless fangirls,” Daniel muttered. He hurried to catch the door before it closed.

Daniel tumbled into a darkened theatre and saw movie patrons frozen in their seats, mouths agape. “There you are,” a reporter hurried up. The reporter frowned at the frightened audience. “What did they see?”

Daniel just smiled. “Must’ve been a ghost.”

  • Kelly Coulter says:

Alone in London, Daniel and I sit on an empty white bench in a stranded park listening to the sound of the rustling wind.  As he turned away to vaguely watch the people staring vacantly at us, I look at him thinking "How did I become so unconditionally in love with him?" He looked at me while saying "What did they see?" He turned back to look but they had vanished. I say to him "I don't know, maybe they were ghosts." Now we face each other, I reach for his hand and begin to say sentimentally "I love you."

  • Taylor Cain says:

I was walking down a long corridor. As I looked around for her, a scream echoed throughout the abdondoned library. I started walking towards the room where I heard the scream. From the same region, someone was whispering my name, "Dan, Dan." My tentative walk turned into a sprint. I found the girl lying faced down as I entered the room. She appeared petrified and I wondered, aloud, "what did she see?" At my words, a stirring in the corner caught my eye. A figure melted out of the shadows and said, "She saw me." I knew nothing more...

  • Rebecca R. says:

Daniel drove alone on the West Side Highway to his apartment in the city. It was rush hour and he was in terrible traffic. Something outside his body made him pull to the side of the road. It was like he wasn’t attached to his own body. People started staring at the water and he started wondering, “What did they see?” A black figure rose out of the Hudson River. The figure in black glided towards his car. When the figure reached his car it pressed its ugly gruesome looking deformed face against the window, beginning happened next…

  • Leia Galla says:

"I'm having the best day," I said to Dan as we rode through Central Park on a carriage ride.

"I'm glad," he said with a grin.

I was leaning in for a kiss when the driver stopped abruptly at the sound of scream.

We jumped out the carriage to find we had almost run over two girls who had run out in front of us.

"What do you mean someone told you to do it?" their mother asked them.

"What did they see?" Dan asked.

"A woman in a black dress told us," one girl said.

    "Imagine that," Dan said.

  • Sudi Kay says:

The cave was dark, long, and winding, the floor littered with bones. We walked farther, our feet echoing loudly and our flashlights barely illuminating inches ahead of us. After what felt like an hour, we finally reached an end. Engraved in gold, the wall read, “All who enter with fear shall witness the end and join death eternally”. I wanted to turn back. “What do you think-“ I stammered. “What did they see?” “Don’t be afraid” Dan said. He held my hand and my fear vanished. He placed the gem in the empty slot and the wall began to melt

John: My parents were in New York visiting my baby sister Nancy last year.
Abigail: That must have been really nice for her.
John: Yeah, she said everything was great until she took them to see Equus on their last night.
Abigail: Oh no, what did they see?
John: Nancy told me not a lot, thankfully. Apparenly DanRad doesn't believe in manscaping.

  • Alyssa Lange says:

While I was walking down the beautiful, grand streets of New York, there was all of a sudden a large group of people running and screaming down the street. I thought to myself, "What did they see?" "What was so amazing?" As I continued on down the street to see what the commotion was, the group suddenly stopped in front of a large building with enormous windows. When I looked in to see what they stopped for, it was Daniel Radcliffe. He was deciding on which team was going to win the Super Bowl. He chose the New York Giants.

  • Lourdes says:

We just heard on the Live News of the Right Now Gossip Channel that Daniel Radcliffe has been spotted walking around South Beach in the company of a mysterious woman. People on the street are being questioned and all of us wonder: “what did they see?” As it happens, Daniel was seen strolling down the beach with a “woman in black”. Is it true? Could it be? We walk to the window, look down and see The Woman in Black passing by holding hands with him who played The Boy Who Lived.
