Do Scientologists Know it's Christmas?

xenu_christmas.jpgFor those of you who've ever wondered if or how Xenu factors into the more conventional holiday season, along comes this dispatch from the Church of Scientology: "Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard honored the great religious leaders of the past for the wisdom they brought to the world, writing that Scientology shares 'the goals set for Man by Christ, which are wisdom, good health and immortality.' It is in this spirit that Scientologists celebrate the holiday season, whether Christmas, Hanukah [sic], Kwanzaa or any other religious or cultural tradition. [...] In an annual tradition beginning in 1983 when Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard provided a 60-foot Christmas tree as a gift to the people of Hollywood, Winter Wonderland holiday village is erected each year on Hollywood Boulevard as a service to the community." Annnnd now I can't get "Frosty the Thetan" out of my head. [Press release]

You have proven once more that you have no clue whatever about Scientology. Is that because you are paid to be ignorant?

    • Finger says:

Your cult spokesman Tommy Davis all but admitted the Xenu story is legit by throwing a temper tantrum on nation television when asked about the origin story of Scientology. Give it up.

  • Angelene says:

Hmm, let's see if I have this right...at a time of year that's about religious celebration, Movieline celebrates by mocking one. Sigh. The amount of hateful people in the world depresses me. Movieline writer, what have YOU done to make the world a better place? As a Scientologist, I am proud to say we do PLENTY! Educate yourself http://www.Scientology.com

    • Old OT 7 says:

Well, there certainly have been many strange deaths and suicides for your small and dwindling numbers. The young man's father that was urged by your cult to take his son off his meds because they were prescribed by a psychiatrist which led to him killing himself I guess is doing PLENTY! Since he wasn't a member of your cult, you probably figured he "pulled it in."

Your reputation is just a shade above Jonestown and dropping fast...

      • CannyScot says:

It's clear you prefer your filtered ignorance to facts.

Judge Merryday recently stopped that case dead by calling its basis "a mere hypothesis" and writing four times there was "no evidence" for any of its various claims.

Clearly, you are in no way stupid. So take a look at how foolishly your hate-mongering emotions make you behave in print. Something is making you less than rational on this particular topic.

    • Finger says:

Angelene said "The amount of hateful people in the world depresses me."

This coming from a follower of a so called "religion" that has been caught red handed framing critics for bomb threats, holding people a slaves in work camps, abusing children and sooo much more. You lost the right to cry "religious persecution" when you behaved more like the mafia than a church. The Scientologist I have known have been some of the most hateful bigots I have come across in all my years. I mean what kind of people attack a child abuse victim for reporting the abuse to police?

  • Rick says:

"For those of you whose Christian toes I may have stepped on, let me take the opportunity to disabuse you of some lovely myths. For instance, the historic Jesus was not nearly the sainted figure he has been made out to be. In addition to being a lover of young boys and men, he was given to uncontrollable bursts of temper and hatred that belied the general message of love, understanding and other typical Marcab PR. You have only to look at the history his teachings inspired to see where it all inevitably leads. It Is historic fact and yet man still clings to the ideal. So deep and insidious is the biologic implanting." -- Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, 1980

  • John says:

Perhaps he hasn't paid enough money for cour$e$ yet?

  • Jim says:

Sure, Scientologists have a lot of respect for other "wog" religions. Didn't L. Ron Hubbard claim Jesus was a pedophile?

    Oh yeah, it's right here:

  • Xenu says:

    Jeff,
Do Scientologists have no sense of humor?

And I DO have a clue about Scientology. I escaped after many years of being brainwashed in that crazy cult.

There's information on the internet that can REALLY lead you to total freedom, but as a scientologist, you're not allowed to view it.

Jeff, why is it that Hubbard lied about being a nuclear scientist when he wrote the book "All About Radiation?"

  • Roopert says:

Scientologists honor Christmas, the same way they do everything, trying to make a bizarre association between warm holiday feelings and their money-sucking mind control scam. On the outside, they want to appear "normal," like they are a "real" religion.

On YouTube Hubbard can be heard talking about all other religions, including Christ, being an "implant," a "piece of R6," that people are brainwashed into believing, whereas the one truth is Scientology, with its pack of lies.

  • Dean Fox says:

Once a scientologist reaches Operating Thetan level 3 they learn that all such mythology was implanted in to our collective conscience by Lord Xenu, that people like Jesus, Bhuddah, Mohammed and Zoroaster are all made up as part of Lord Xenu's plot to confuse us and prevent us becoming true Operating Thetans again.

That said like most people in the UK they have a great time at christmas without bothering with any religious dogma.

  • Xenunetmonitor says:

How do Scientologists really spend Christmas?

The "paying public" and the staffers are urged to contribute money for a "Christmas basket" for leader David Miscavige. There is competition to see who can contribute the nicest(read most expensive) basket.

Those that Dear Leader does not use himself are used at "Bosun's parties" held for high level executives and members of the "Sea Org".

The members currently in the "Rehabilitation Project Force" (the punishment battalion for erring sea Orgers) get to eat what's left when they clean up after the party.

At Scientology "orgs", staffers sit around waiting for the "paying public" to show up with extra Christmas money to pay for more "auditing", money which can also be demanded as "donations".

Those who fail to increase their weekly "stats" (statistics, due every Thursday at 2PM) will not be given any time off to do Christmas shopping (provided they have any money), because they are working extra hours to "do amends".

All this in the name of "Clearing the Planet".

  • Finger says:

When I was in Scientology and we celebrated Christmas, it was all about "exchange". You had to know what everyone was getting you, so you could give back the same amount and not be "out-exchange". Of course if you were in a lower "ethics-condition", you would get no gifts, meal, love, ect. I feels truly sorry for kids that grow up like I did, in this stupid money cult.

  • Elisa Furr says:

I understand the doubt and the anxiety that people feel when they hear about scientology. It is a very powerful force to be reckoned with. And I don't claim to know a lot about the upper levels. all I know is that I was born and Raised a Christian and now have kind of evolved into a non denomination type spiritual relationship with God. He is true for me. More power to others with their other beliefs as well. Several years ago, I got curious and finally looked into scientology. I had met so many amazing people that were successful at their businesses, kind, loving and brilliant that I was incredibly curious. I began looking into it and discovered things that were so powerful it literally changed my life. I am not a programmed idiot as some would like to say. I think for myself.. I dont spend all my money on courses etc etc.. forget about all the myths and silly accusations. Since I began taking some of the courses and doing some counseling, my life became unbelievably incredible. My singing career has shot through the roof, I am in a wonderful relationship, I am happy, I all but have quit ever vice that I had. I got off of pharmaceutical medication ( sorry about the typos.. it's late).. and I just became a really really happy person. I tour the world as a professional singer and have met the most amazing and inspiring people. All I know is that even though there are so many horrible stories about it... since I have began studying some of it, my life has become everything I ever dreamed that it could be. If it can do that for people then why do people say it is so bad? Every religion has its "Please give money" requests. You can't have places to study or books or teachers without money. Do I know where all the money goes? I know a lot of it goes into the orgs and into helping people. And just because a few scientologists were bad doesnt mean all of them are bad. That is like saying "Oh this Priest molested a child so Christianity is horrible". Or maybe a Buddhist stole something or killed someone.. That doesnt make Buddhists bad! Am I making any sense? The basic core of scientology belief is this. Be a good person, help others that need it, Love one another, help build a beautiful and kind society. It is former scientologists then let them have their reasons. But it is unfair to lump everyone together. I know a lot of scientologist and they are kind and loving and really brilliant people. All you have to do is just think for yourself. Do you know any scientologists? you probably do and don't even know it and I can probably bet that they are some of the sweetest people you know. Let people have their beliefs and lets just all try to work together to make this world a better place. And yes you can be a Christian Sci.. or a buddhist Sci or whatever you want.. because YOUR relationship with your higher power is YOURS. Don't let anyone else tell you how to have that relationship..

    • choocho says:

Are you prepared to extend the same amount of humanity to Freezone Scientologists? Probably none of the money you contribute to Scientology goes to charity, but it certainly goes to harassing Freezone Scientologists.

    • NonRonBot says:

Sure, you can be a Christian Scientologist. And if you're buying that, I have this Bridge to Total Freedom for sale...

    • Xenunetmonitor says:

Scientology: A heartless, remorseless mind trap, cleverly designed to snare the unwary and idealistic, strip them of all their money, privacy, and personality, and replace the latter, as far as possible, with the bizarre ideas of L. Ron Hubbard.

One could not wish for a more over-the-top demonstration of what Scientology can do to the mind of an up-and-coming celebrity. She is unquestionably coddled and cossetted at the "Celebrity Center" in Hollywood where they go for their "processing".

But I cannot help asking these questions of Ms Furr:

      (1) Haven't you noticed that every time you have a "win", it is invariably credited to Scientology, but when you have a "fail", it is invariably YOUR fault?

      (2) Haven't you realized yet that no matter how much money and time you give to Scientology, it is NEVER enough?

  • Marc Abian says:

"you can be a Christian Sci.. or a buddhist Sci or whatever you want.."

You are either lying or you haven't paid enough to get the "Christ is an Implant" lesson. Let me save you some $, You've mocked up your own reactive mind! Xenu caused the wall of Fire! Good luck not getting peumonia...BWAHAHAHAH!!!

  • joe says:

I'm a Scientologist and I celebrate Christmas the same as millions of others of different denominations...xmas tree, buying and giving presents, family and food... Am I missing anything?
