'Wild Animals Aren't Disney Characters': PETA Calls for We Bought a Zoo Warning

It was bound to happen eventually, and here we are: Three days after the Zanesville Zooicide that cost dozens of unleashed zoo animals their lives, PETA vice president Lisa Lange wants Cameron Crowe's upcoming We Bought a Zoo to warn viewers off from wild-animal ownership.

"We Bought a Zoo conveys the misleading and downright dangerous message that no special knowledge--just a lot of heart--is needed to run a zoo," Lange said in a statement just over the transom at ML HQ, calling for the film to add a disclaimer discouraging the smattering of idiots impressionable enough to think amateur zookeeping is right for them. "As the tragedy in Ohio gruesomely illustrates, wild animals aren't Disney characters. They have very special needs that all too often aren't met by people who buy them on a whim because they think it would be 'cool' to own a tiger."

Fair enough, but I have to say that it really is pretty cool to own a tiger. Let me consult mine about this. What say you, Panjo?
