Why See The Double When Its Trailer Seems to Spoil the Whole Movie?

Compared to the other releases set for Sept. 23 (Moneyball, Killer Elite, Abduction, Machine Gun Preacher), precious little is known about The Double. Correction: after watching the new trailer for the Richard Gere-led thriller, everything seems known about The Double. If you thought the trailer for Dream House gave up the farm, you ain't seen nothing yet!

Per the synopsis, after the death of a U.S. senator (Martin Sheen) a retired CIA operative Paul Shepherdson (Gere) must team with a rookie FBI agent (Topher Grace) to stop "Cassius," a Russian assassin that Shepherdson says he killed years ago. Or did he? Well, he didn't -- and the trailer helpfully explains why by giving away what seems to be every twist, turn and character death The Double has to offer. Unless the twist twist ending involves aliens. Which seems unlikely.

Written by Wanted screenwriters Michael Brandt and Derek Haas and directed by Brandt, The Double arrives in theaters on Sept. 23. See it then, or save time and watch the very spoiler-y trailer below. (Head over to Apple to get your spoilers in HD.)

VERDICT: Twist!
