Beyonce Opens Up About A Star is Born Remake, But Is She Right?

There is no denying Beyonce's talent, stardom, or status as an enduring stronghold in show business, but would you call her "a new talent [that] represents a generation"? Because in a new interview about her role in Clint Eastwood's A Star is Born remake, she kinda claims to be just that.

According to Reuters, Beyonce's appreciation of A Star is Born is pretty comprehensive. It's when she starts comparing herself to Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand that I chafe just slightly.

"It's when I became a fan of Barbra Streisand's. And I then saw Judy Garland's version of 'A Star Is Born' and I realized every 20 to 30 years a new star is born and a new talent represents that generation and era -- so I didn't think that I would ever get the opportunity to be the star," she said.

"I met with Clint and I was so nervous and I know that it is the biggest opportunity of my life. I will work as hard as I can," she said. "Because I can't wait. And I am so happy that he trusts me and I am in good hands and I am so fortunate."

First of all, no one becomes a fan of Barbra Streisand after watching A Star is Born. That's just impossible. Secondly, I don't know if "representing" an era as a "new star" is the right way to put it; the A Star is Born franchise is actually about established entertainers who've been famous for at least a decade. From Janet Gaynor to Judy Garland to Streisand, that's been the case. Hopefully Beyonce knocks it out of the park with the soundtrack single. I can hear it now: "Loveee... bootylicious as an easy chair..."
